Pop was the only father Snoopy knew but when Pop disciplined; sometimes he would break a fence post across Snoopy's back, or whatever was handy.  When Snoopy was 15, Pop was drunk and had taken a swing at him with his fists.  Snoopy discovered he had perfected a skill of quick and cunning responses to avoid being beaten.  He also realized what he was capable of when he unleashed his pent up rage as he maneuvered his way into the kitchen to retrieve a six inch butcher knife to stab his Stepfather.  Without the intervention of Mom, he would have surely done some damage, or killed Pop.  Mom would protect her lover, but not her children.
People took to calling him Snoopy, because he was the 'Dog'.  The lovable, cartoon character, beagle doggie that brought a chuckle to all of us in the daily newspaper was nothing like the violent beast he could turn into with just the slightest provocation.  He easily vacillated into a mean, junkyard dog that has been beaten into madness.  However, there were times he could toggle his temperament into the very sanguine, life of the party, romantic lover, friendly neighbor, and loyal dog of his comic strip namesake.  This was the Snoopy everyone found it easy to love.  But sometimes a slight mistake would turn Dr. Jekyll into Mr. Hyde.  Then there would be hell to pay.
Fast Harleys gave Snoopy a way to vent the rage that boiled just under his skin and the biker brotherhood offered an understanding tolerance and a non-condemning haven, because they loved him.  Bikers were truly the understanding family he hadn't had as a child.
Snoopy did Federal time for cooking Meth in the late 70's.  In Snoopy's mid 30's, the fast Harleys, hundreds of women and drugs didn't seem to fill the empty spot in his Soul that constantly cried for attention.
Snoopy had gone through 31 Ol Ladies (common law wives).  Still desiring completeness, Snoopy and his present Ol Lady, a mud wrestler, had two beautiful children. This seemed to give Snoopy a whole new perspective on life.  Indeed, it was time to settle down and pour his life into his children, Sativa and Justice.
That joy also became fleeting when primary custody was given to the children's mother in a bitter divorce.   Although there was never a marriage, state laws made a divorce necessary for the purposes of establishing financial responsibility and visiting rights.  Snoopy's mission was clear; he had to fight for his children.  When it became evident to the children's mother that legalities were swinging in Snoopy's favor, his children were illegally moved out of state and hidden from their father, constantly being told their father was evil.  Snoopy's whole life was crushed.
During all the custody battles, Snoopy assumed responsibility of being a body guard for Sharon, (the church lady - Ha) as a favor for Charley Machado in Austin.  Sharon had been attacked by a stalker and her life was in danger.  Snoopy loved the roll of knight in shining armor and was more than glad to rise to the occasion.  During the situation, Snoopy and Sharon fell in love.  They went to Snoopy's friend's Tattoo Studio in Deep Ellum (Tigger's) and got married.  After three years, that marriage, too, ended.   Their differences were too great and Sharon moved back to Austin.

One night, walking through his empty house, Snoopy found himself looking down the barrel of his 45.  Now that Sharon, the stable, clean and sober, ideal mother for his children, was gone, his prospects of regaining custody of his children were gone.  He had nothing more to live for.
Calling Sharon's grown son, Keith, Snoopy talked of his despair.

"You just need Jesus"  Keith said.  "You need to quit trying to fix this yourself and let God do it for you"  Keith continued.  "Let's pray right now over the phone"  he finished.

"No."  Snoopy answered.  "I've always been a face to face guy and I'm not doin' something this important, over the phone."

The next morning (Sunday), Snoopy got in his car and drove to Austin to be in church with Keith.  He could hardly wait for the preacher to finish his sermon & it didn't even matter what the sermon was about.  Snoopy's mission was clear; he had to give God his messed up life & his broken heart.  If God was truly the God of the Bible, there surely wasn't anything too broken that God couldn't fix.

That October morning in 1994, God reached into Snoopy and removed his damaged heart, only he didn't fix it, he gave him a whole new heart.  One that was as pure as a new born, innocent  baby.  Snoopy was "Born Again".
Over the next few months, God worked his work.  He restored Snoopy's marriage to Sharon and custody of his daughter, Sativa.

Snoopy & Sharon minister God's love at Biker Runs, Prisons, Youth Groups and Church Congregations, internationally.  Sativa, too, is active in her local Church Youth Group and has done missions work on an International basis.
